The multi-agency manhunt for 39-year-old Christopher Lucrisia of Mountain View ended yesterday afternoon.
Police responded to the 18-1300 block of Ihope Road for a report of a home invasion. A man, later determined to be Lucrisia, entered the residence and threatened occupants before stealing the keys to a vehicle that was parked outside.
Acting on information that Lucrisia may still be in the Ihope Road area, law enforcement responded to the home invasion. As they did, Lucrisia, who was armed with a rifle and a pistol and hiding in a vehicle on the property, began firing at the detectives who arrived first. Seconds later, SRT personnel arrived and established a perimeter. Lucrisia continued firing, and one officer returned fire.
Eventually, Lucrisia stopped firing. SRT members maintained a perimeter, repeatedly attempting to communicate and negotiate with Lucrisia. After a period of time, officers were able to send an unmanned drone into the area and observed Lucrisia non-responsive in the rear seat of the vehicle. Medics were called to the scene and determined that he had died.
The scene of this home invasion and shooting is directly across the street from the Ihope Road location where officers arrested 23-year-old Silas Zion and recovered the truck that was used in last Friday’s attempted murder of a police officer.
Zion was charged with First-degree attempted murder, Place to Keep Pistol, Place to Keep Ammunition and First-degree hindering prosecution. His bail was set at $3,075,000.
Officers and detectives remain focused on where Lucrisia may have been over the past three days and who, if anyone, provided him with material assistance to avoid arrest.
The HPD Office of Professional Standards has initiated a critical incident review.
According to police, the events began on Monday, March 10, when Lucrisia, a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm, arrived at a Mountain View home demanding to see his ex-girlfriend. After a brief argument in the driveway, Lucrisia allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired at least one shot into the ground. Shrapnel from the gunfire struck the 39-year-old woman, causing minor injuries to her legs and feet. Lucrisia fled the scene in a primer-black Nissan Xterra.
Two days later, Lucrisia allegedly returned to the same home, entered without permission, and threatened a bedridden 75-year-old woman at gunpoint. He then stole a bag from her bed before issuing another threat to kill his ex-girlfriend. Police responded and opened a robbery investigation, adding further firearms-related charges against him.
Early Thursday morning, police located Lucrisia in the Puainako area sitting in the front passenger seat of a white Chevrolet pickup truck, registered to Zion. As officers approached the vehicle, Lucrisia pulled out a handgun and fired at them. One officer was struck in the right forearm and in the head. A nearby detective returned fire, shooting at least three rounds in Lucrisia’s direction. The truck then fled the scene.
Following an island-wide search, police successfully apprehended Zion.
The officer who was shot remains in serious, but stable condition on Oʻahu and while his recovery will be lengthy, he is expected to make a full recovery.
