Governor Green announced the nomination of Major Mike Lambert, a veteran of the Honolulu Police Department, as the next Director of the State Department of Law Enforcement (DLE).
Lambert has served in the Honolulu Police Department for 22 years, where he has worked his way up from patrol to several key leadership positions, including narcotics investigations and community outreach. He currently serves in the Narcotics Vice Division.
Lambert earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration with a Justice Concentration from the University of Hawai‘i, West O‘ahu, and has earned numerous awards throughout his career. Notably, he received the prestigious 2018 “40 Under 40” honor from the International Association of Chiefs of Police for his leadership and innovation in law enforcement.
Lambert will commence his new role at DLE effective February 1. Deputy Jared Redulla will serve as interim director in the meantime. The State Department of Law Enforcement plays a critical role in coordinating statewide public safety efforts, managing specialized law enforcement units and fostering collaboration across agencies. Lambert’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Hawai‘i State Senate.
