Hawaiʻi County recently held a free microchipping and dog licensing clinic at the Hawaiian Paradise Park Community Center.

The event, organized by the County’s Animal Control and Protection division, saw a turnout of over 83 dogs and cats that were microchipped and licensed within a 2.5-hour time period.

The event also saw the involvement of three partner organizations: the Hawaiʻi Island Humane Society, Aloha ʻĪlio Rescue, and HAKA (Hawaiian Animal Kuleana Alliance), which were on-site to support the initiative and promote their own causes.

In a press release Mayor Roth said, “Responsible pet ownership is key to keeping our community safe. We’re thrilled with how the event turned out and grateful for the strong support from our residents. It’s heartwarming to see so many pet owners stepping up to take responsibility and care for their communities and four-legged family members.”

Given the success of this event, the County is committed to continuing this initiative, with plans to hold similar clinics every 60 days across different locations on the island.
