The Department of Transportation announced a number of Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of January 15, 2024. Lane closure schedules may change without notice at any time. There will be no closures and contraflow operations on Monday, Jan. 15 in observance of Martin Luther King Day unless permitted. All projects are weather permitting.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY/HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 7.25 to 7.36, in the vicinity of Keaau Pahoa Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 16 through Friday, Jan. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping of crosswalks, lane lines and directional arrows.

 

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 49 to 51 in the vicinity of Koali Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 16 through Friday, Jan. 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for vegetation cutting

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD(ROUTE 19) 

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 6.2 and 6.4, in the vicinity of Kapue Stream Bridge beginning Monday, Jan. 15 through Friday, Jan. 19 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for emergency repairs to Kapue Stream Bridge.

PAPAALOA TO OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 23 and 27.6, in the vicinity of Stevens Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 16 through Friday, Jan. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new roadway striping and reflective markers.

 

 QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19)  

MAKALAWENA

Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 88 and 89 in the vicinity of Kekaha Kai State Park on Monday, Jan. 15 through Friday, Jan. 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for work on drains, culverts and inlets.

KAILUA KONA

Right side lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) southbound, between mile post 94.4 and 95.2 in the vicinity of Hulikoa Drive on Thursday, Jan. 18 through Friday, Jan. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for survey crew taking measurements.

 KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130)

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 0 and 1.5, in the vicinity of Hawaii Belt Road and Keaau Bypass Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 16 through Friday, Jan. 19 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for mowing and shoulder work.

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 16.9 and 26.02, beginning Tuesday, Jan. 16 through Friday, Jan. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for application of new striping and reflective markers on the roadway.

 

KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250)

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 6.17 and 10.6, Tuesday, Jan. 15 through Friday, Jan. 19 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for resurfacing and reconstructing the roadway and weakened shoulder.
