44-year old Jeremy Pilgrim and 39-year old Samantha Baylor were charged with multiple offenses following a motor vehicle theft that was reported on November 21.
On November 26, Kona patrol officers responded to the Ace Hardware parking lot in Captain Cook for a possible drug overdose in a red Ford Mustang. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the car had been reported stolen from a rental car company in Kailua-Kona.
Witnesses observed Pilgrim and Baylor in the vehicle and they were subsequently placed under arrest. Upon arrest officers located a methamphetamine smoking pipe in Baylor’s possession.
The Ford Mustang was recovered and detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigation Section executed a search warrant which resulted in the recovery of 46.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 77.1 grams of marijuana.
Upon conferring with the Hawai’i County Prosecutor’s Office, Area II Criminal Investigation Section detectives charged Pilgrim for Theft in the first degree and Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle. His bail was set at $7,000. Baylor was charged for Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the first degree and Promoting a Detrimental Drug in the first degree. Her bail was set at $60,000. Both parties had their initial court appearances on Tuesday morning.
