At 5:00 AM HST (1500 UTC), Tropical Storm Calvin’s center was situated near latitude 17.8 North and longitude 156.8 West. The storm was moving westward at a speed of approximately 20 mph (31 km/h), and this westward motion is predicted to continue through Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds around the center of the storm were recorded at approximately 45 mph (75 km/h), with higher gusts. Over the next 48 hours, Calvin is expected to weaken, eventually transitioning into a post-tropical/remnant low.

The estimated minimum central pressure was 1006 mb (29.71 inches).

Rain and wind impacts have been minimal thus far with most parts of East Hawaii receiving 3-5 inches of rain over the past 24 hours.  Laupahoe and Pi’ihonua received the most rain with both areas recording over 7 inches of rain over the past 24 hours. Winds peaked overnight on Hawaii Island at 43 mph at Kohala Ranch and 42 mph in lower Puna.

Current Road  Closures include: Wood Valley Road.

Additionally, due to Tropical Storm Calvin, most State and County offices will be closed on Wednesday.
