The U.S. Army prepared a draft environmental impact statement (EIS) regarding its proposed use of up to approximately 23,000 acres of state-owned land to support continued military training at Pōhakuloa Training Area (PTA).
Native Hawaiian organizations, federal, state, and local agencies and officials, and other interested organizations and individuals are encouraged to provide comments on the Draft EIS during the 60-day public comment period which takes place from April 8 through June 7, 2022.
The Draft EIS is available for public review at: https://home.army.mil/hawaii/index.php/PTAEIS and at the following libraries:
- Hilo Public Library
- Kailua-Kona Public Library
- Thelma Parker Memorial Public and School Library
The following in-person meetings are also scheduled for public input:
• Monday, April 25 from 6p-8p at ʻImiloa Astronomy Center – 600 ʻImiloa Place, Hilo, HI 96720
• Tuesday, April 26 from 6p-8pm at Waimea District Park -Ala Ohia Road, Waimea, HI 96743
