(AP) — Authorities say a man has died in a single-vehicle crash near Honolulu after the car he was operating hit a pole and a tree. The Honolulu Police Department said the 39-year-old man, who was not immediately identified, crashed in Waikiki on Sunday around 3:15 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said weather was not a contributing factor, but speed was involved. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
