(AP) — The family of a 16-year-old boy fatally shot by Honolulu police last month are suing the city and unidentified police officers, alleging negligence, assault and battery. The teen’s grandmother and mother asked the court Friday to award damages, reimburse costs and declare that the officers’ use of deadly force was unlawful and unauthorized. A city spokesman says the city hasn’t been served with the lawsuit and couldn’t comment. A police spokeswoman says the department is declining to comment on pending litigation. Police say the teen was driving a stolen Honda linked to an armed robbery and other crimes.
