The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says, based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide Tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawai’i following a 7.0 that struck Japan at 4:07am HST.
The epicenter was near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan approximately 56 miles East Northeast of the coastal town of Namie in the Fukushima Prefecture. The town of Namie is just north of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, which went into meltdown following a deadly earhtquake and tsunami nearly 10 years ago.
