The state has confirmed 62 new cases of COVID-19 today. The state’s total now stands at 14,834, with around 3,016 active cases.
The State Department of Health removed two deaths from the state’s death toll, having determined they were not related to COVID-19. The state’s official death toll from COVID-19 is now 213. That includes only 30 of the Big Island’s 42 deaths.
The Big Island added 5 new cases. The island’s total count is 1,238, with approximately 331 active COVID-19 cases. The Department of Health is monitoring people who have COVID-19 and are also checking on people who were close contacts of those who have tested positive, to ensure everybody is staying in quarantine.
Other new cases in today’s report include 41 on O’ahu, 7 on Lana’i, 2 on Maui Island, 1 on Kaua’i, 6 out of state, and none on Moloka’i.
The outbreak is growing on Lanai, after months of no cases until a little over a week ago. The island has a population of around 3,000 and at least 1,100 people were tested for COVID-19 after outbreaks grew as a result of a funeral gathering and other large gatherings. So far, 94 people have COVID-19.
