The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Tuesday, October 13, at 5:24 a.m.:

Worldwide cases: 37,894,452    Worldwide deaths:  1,082,201

U.S. cases: 7,811,401   U.S. deaths:  215,251

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide case report increased by 288,119 in the last 24 hours.  Deaths worldwide increased by 4,104.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 42,772 cases in the last 24 hours.  In that time,  the number of reported deaths from  COVID-19 increased by only 407.

In the state, daily case count increases are diminishing, but the Big Island continues to add cases while Kaua’i and Maui County have added few to none recently.  On Monday there were only 42 new cases of COVID-19 statewide, 5 on the Big Island and 37 on O’ahu.

The State now has a total of 13,514 cases of COVID-19, and the number of active cases is around 2,564.

The number of deaths the state is reporting is 169, but that counts only 15 of the Big Island’s 37 deaths.

The Big Island now has a total of 953 cases, with around 202 active cases.

Starting Thursday, trans Pacific travelers who get a COVID-19 test 72 hours before their Hawaii-bound flight will not be subject to the 14-day quarantine as required by the state.  But on the Big Island, Mayor Kim has announced that incoming travelers will need to take a second test upon arrival to be able to skip the island’s 14-day quarantine.  Nothing has been released yet in writing, and the details are unclear.

In Monday’s State House Select Committee on COVID-19 briefing, Speaker Scott Saiki said he knew the Attorney General had been working on details and something should be released soon.
