On Friday, 21 new cases on the island were confirmed, bringing the active case count to around 290. As of Friday, the island has lost 11 people to COVID-19, 10 of whom were residents of the Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home. Although each of those who died was said to have underlying medical conditions, that could include being overweight, having diabetes, having COPD, just a variety of issues–and those people may have had years more to live without suffering with COVID-19.
Getting tested may help save lives on this island.
