Hawaii County has set up COVID-19 testing for today at  Pahoa District Park and on Saturday at Afook Chinen Auditorium from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim has said it is critical for people to get tested, to help people get treated, if needed, and to help them isolate themselves from others to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.  The island’s case count has increased from zero active cases, with 115 total, on August 1, to yesterday’s report of 541 cumulative and at least 278 active cases. Yesterday’s case count increase was only 8.

The island has had 11 deaths from COVID-19.

There is no charge for testing, but please bring your insurance card if you have one.  There is no advance registration.

There is also testing as part of the Federal “surge testing” at Pahoa Pharmacy, today from 10 until 2, and next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  To get more information and register in advance, go to DoINeedaCOVID19test.com

This is the only Federal surge test site on the island.  Testing is also free under the program.
