Hawaii State Department of Health says the state has 248 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today as of noon. The state’s cumulative case count is 6,600, with the number of active cases at more than 4,410. The state’s release said it has removed 3 cases from Honolulu’s count and 1 from Maui County’s count because of updated information.
The state’s death toll from COVID-19 remains at 47, with no new reported today.
Hawaii County’s cumulative case count is now 200 cases, up from 192 yesterday. With the 8 additional cases, the number of known active cases on the Big Island is 59, according to the State Department of Health. As of Saturday afternoon there were 6 people in Hilo Medical Center with COVID-19.
This morning’s Hawaii County Civil Defense message again cautioned people against large gatherings; the rule now is 10 per gathering, indoors or out. The message said many of the new Hilo cases haves been caused by large, unmasked gatherings, including a memorial service in late July and groups at beaches and parks.
Kaua’i has no new cases. Maui County added 12 cases. O’ahu added 228 cases. O’ahu now has around 4,208 active cases.
