Premier Medical Group will provide free COVID-19 testing in Hilo on Friday, August 21 at the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Gymnasium.
This walk-up testing will take place on the following schedule:
· UHH Students: Testing from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
· General Public: Testing from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
No insurance is necessary to be tested, but please bring your insurance card if you have one.
Please be sure to wear a face covering at all times, and observe social distancing.
The testing is critical, because the island has had a number of new COVID-19 cases, and according to Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim, most of them are in Hilo, and they are all community spread. That means that people in the community are passing it to others. Since 40% of the cases of COVID-19 are in people who show no symptoms–if you have been around anybody with COVID-19, or you have not been wearing a mask and distancing, or you’re in a situation where you are seeing lots of different people (retail, health care, grocery stores, etc.), consider getting screened and tested.
A UH Hilo spokesperson said there are no known cases of COVID-19 on the UH Hilo campus.
