Hawaii Island Food Basket has ‘Ohana Food Drops today at Ka’u District Gym starting at 10 a.m., going until the food supply is depleted or noon. At Old Kona Airport last Thursday, the Food Basket served more than 2,000.
On Wednesday, the ‘Ohana Food Drop will be at Cooper Center in Volcano starting at 10 a.m.
The Hawaii Island Food Basket has also released its full schedule for June, which is printed below.
Kristin Frost Albrecht, Executive Director of the Food Basket, says the food is available for anybody. Families are urged to carpool to reduce the waiting time, as drivers will be allowed to pick up for multiple families. She also asks drivers to clean out their trunk or back seat so the volunteers and National Guard members may put the food directly into the vehicle.
Below is the schedule for the rest of May, plus June. Frost Albrecht says the Hawaii Island Food Basket expect to continue these emergency food drops for as long as needed.
Frost Albrecht provided a short update on the food drops and on funding. Click here for that interview.
