The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Tuesday morning, May 26, at 6:32 a.m.:

Worldwide cases: 5,543,439     Worldwide deaths:  347,836

U.S. cases: 1,669,040   U.S. deaths:  98,426

All states now have full or partial  reopening of their businesses.  On Monday, media reports said 18 states had an increasing number of cases, 10 were declining, and 22 were remaining flat.

On Monday, Hawaii again had no new COVID-19 cases to confirm, the second day in a row with no new cases.   The state has had 643 cumulative cases, and as of Monday at noon, 592 had been released from isolation. The Big Island as of Monday had 81 cumulative cases, with only 2 active cases being monitored by the State Department of Health.

The State is well on its way to reopening the local economy,  but health officials remind everybody that the key to continuing to make forward progress is for everybody to adhere to the well-known CDC recommendations to wear a mask (the law in Hawaii County, if going into stores), stay at least 6 feet from others, and continue hand-washing and cleaning of surfaces.

In Hawaii County, Mayor Harry Kim, with Gov. David Ige’s approval, has given the green light to reopen hair salons, barbershops, restaurants and food courts, churches, and one-on-one instructions on June 1, subject to the usual COVID-19 precautions.
