Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of April 21

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of April 21, 2025. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

KANOELEHUA AVENUE (ROUTE 11) 

 

HILO

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 0.4 to 0.9, in the vicinity of Piilani Street and Leilani Street, on Monday, April 21 to Tuesday, April 22, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for maintaining lane lines at the intersection and crosswalks.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 54 to 56, on Monday, April 21 to Friday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 97.2 to 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Monday, April 21 through Friday, April 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for safety improvements.

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 108 to 109, in the vicinity of Government Main Road and Koa Road, on Monday, April 21 to Friday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing and shoulder work.

HOLUALOA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 117 to 118, on Monday, April 21 to Friday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing and shoulder work.

 HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

 

HILO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 4 to 5, in the vicinity of Kahoa Place, on Monday, April 21 to Friday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing.

HONOMU TO HAKALAU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 13.5 to 15, in the vicinity of Honomu Road and Chin Chuck Road, on Monday, April 21 to Friday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.

HAKALAU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 15.2 to 15.3, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway, on Thursday, April 24, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for maintenance on Hakalau Stream Bridge.

HONOHINA/NINOLE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 17.6 to 17.7, on Wednesday, April 23, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for inspection of Opea Stream Bridge.

NINOLE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 18.5 to 18.6, on Tuesday, April 22, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for inspection of Waikaumalo Stream Bridge.

NINOLE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 19.4 to 19.45, on Monday, April 21, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for inspection of Ninole Stream Bridge.

 KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

 

KAWAIHAE

Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 62 to 66, on Monday, April 21 to Friday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

PAHOA KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

 

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Pahoa Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 19 to 21, on Monday, April 21 to Friday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass and shoulder work.

 

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Monday, April 21 through Friday, April 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 9.7 to 12.2, on Monday, April 21, to Friday, April 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping and installation of raised pavement markers.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Monday, April 21, to Friday, April 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping.

 AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) 

 

KAWAIHAE

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile post 3 to 12, on Monday, April 21 to Friday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for shoulder work.

 

 PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, April 21 through Friday, April 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping and installing raised pavement markers.
