The Hawaiʻi County Council recently honored Fire Equipment Operator Lyle Tamaribuchi with the Hāweo Award.
With a career spanning nearly two decades with the County Fire Department, Tamaribuchi has gone above and beyond expectations. In addition to his duties as Fire Equipment Operator, he is an active contributor to the department’s Training Services Branch, where he plays a key role in vetting new training programs, including the Blue Card Command system.
Tamaribuchi’s outstanding contributions to the department and the community also earned him the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation Award in 2015.
The County Council, Fire Department and Police Department established the Hāweo Award in 2021 to recognize employees that go above and beyond the call of duty.
