South Kohala Patrol Officer Severo Ines Jr. was recently recognized as Officer of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2024 by the Hawai‘i Island Safety and Security Professionals Association (HISSPA).

In the past year alone, Officer Ines he has issued hundreds of speeding citations and arrested 18 individuals for excessive speeding. Notably, 12 of these arrests involved motorists traveling at or above 100 miles-per-hour, with the highest recorded speed being an astonishing 134 miles per hour. This level of enforcement not only underscores Officer Ines’s proactive approach to maintaining roadway safety but also reflects his commitment to duty.

Excessive speeding is a serious threat to public safety, and Officer Ines’ efforts have undoubtedly prevented numerous potential accidents and saved lives.
