Hawai’i Island police arrested and charged 36-year-old Sione Siupeli Siale with terroristic threatening and firearms offenses, following a recent weapons incident in Pāhoa.
On December 11, Puna patrol officers responded to a weapons incident in the Ainaloa Subdivision, where multiple calls were received regarding gunshots and yelling coming from a residence on Pearl Drive.
The victims reported that Siale exited the residence and discharged several rounds from a handgun and threatened to shoot and kill his ex-in-laws.
Siale was arrested on scene without incident.
Area I Juvenile Aid Section detectives later obtained a search warrant for the residence to recover evidence and document the scene. They determined that Siale is prohibited from owning or being in possession of a firearm and/or ammunition.
After conferring with Hawai‘i County Prosecutors, Area I Juvenile Aid Section detectives charged Siale with the following offenses:
- Two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening
- First-degree reckless endangering
- Ownership or possession of a firearm and ammunition prohibited
