The search for a missing swimmer in waters off ‘Anini Beach on Kauaʻi resumed yesterday.
Hanalei firefighters, Rescue 3 aboard Air 1, and ocean safety officers from the North Roving Patrol Unit initiated the search Sunday, after a group of snorkelers realized one person in their group did not return to shore.
The missing snorkeler, a 59-year-old male of Arizona, was last seen near the back channel of ‘Anini Beach.
Additional personnel from the Kaua‘i Fire Department and Kaua‘i Police Department arrived on scene and launched drones to assist with the search on Sunday, while the U.S. Coast Guard assisted by boat and helicopter.
Volunteers with Kaua‘i Search and Rescue also joined in the effort. So far, there has been no sign of the man.
