The Coast Guard medevaced the captain of a commercial fishing vessel 65 miles offshore Honolulu.
Coast Guard Sector Honolulu command center watchstanders received a phone call from a crew member aboard the 85-foot commercial fishing vessel Triple Andy who reported the 69-year-old captain was experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac.
An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Air Station Barbers Point arrived on scene with the Triple Andy and transported the captain to The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. The captain is reportedly in stable condition.
