The fourth annual Fill a Cruiser Food Drive is taking place today at the Kona Costco parking lot from 10am to 2pm.
During the event which is sponsored by the Hawai‘i County Police Department’s Kona Community Policing Section, Kona Costco, the Food Basket, a blue and white marked police cruiser will be stationed in front of Costco, where the public can donate nonperishable food items. All collected items and monetary donations will be distributed by the Food Basket.
The drive was created during the COVID-19 lockdown to address the overwhelming need for food assistance on Hawaiʻi Island. Since then, the need for food assistance has continued to grow. In the past three years, the Fill A Cruiser Food Drive has collected more than 9,270 pounds of food and $10,957 in monetary donations.
