Yesterday morning, North Kohala patrol officers and multiple Hawaiʻi County Fire Department units responded to a report of a small Cessna airplane that made an emergency hard landing in pasture land south of Upolu Airport in Hawi.
Officers contacted the operator and sole occupant of the plane who stated he lost all power to the engine around 300 feet, which caused a hard landing.
The pilot was treated at the scene for a minor injury by Hawaiʻi County Fire Department members and released.
