The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of August 19, 2024. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.
KANOELEHUA AVENUE /MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)
HILO
Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 4 to 6.5, in the vicinity of Lama Street and Old Volcano Road, on Monday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
PAHALA
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 31 to 35, beginning Monday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for grass and vegetation cutting.
CAPTAIN COOK
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 97 to 104, in the vicinity of Haleili Street and Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Monday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for crews to work on safety improvements on the roadway.
HAWAII BELT ROAD/ QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 18 to 24, on Monday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
KAILUA KONA
Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 94.4 to 95.2, in the vicinity of Kohanaiki Golf and Ocean Club, on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for surveying for future projects.
KEALAKEHE PARKWAY (ROUTE 197)

Single lane closure on Kealakehe Parkway (Route 197) possible in either direction between mile post 0.17 to 0.40, in the vicinity of Kamanu Street, on Monday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for paving of new bike lane and signage installations.
DANIEL K. INOUYE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 200)

Alternating single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Route 200) possible in either direction between mile post 10.29 to 12.29, on Monday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for crews to apply new striping and raised pavement markers.

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction, between mile post 6.2 to 10.6, on Monday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 23, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for application of permanent striping as part of the Kohala Mountain Road Resurfacing project.
PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000)

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, Aug. 19 through the morning of Friday, Aug. 23, from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving the roadway as part of the Puainako Street Widening Project.
