A Hilo District Court judge granted supervised release to 30 year-old Beau De Dier of Kurtistown, who was arrested and charged for being a felon in possession of a loaded Ruger .357 caliber revolver.
As the Complaint alleges, De Dier is charged with Place to Keep Pistol or Revolver, Carrying or Possessing a Loaded Firearm on a Public Highway, Ownership or Possession of Firearm Prohibited, and Ownership or Possession of Ammunition Prohibited. All of these offenses are class B felony offenses which carry a penalty of either a ten-year prison term or four years probation and up to eighteen months in jail.
De Dier is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on July 1.
The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Herbert Mukai.
