U.S. Senator Mazie K. Hirono (D-HI) officially filed for re-election to the United States Senate.
Senator Hirono, who has served in the U.S. Senate since 2013, is the only current-serving Senator of Japanese descent and immigrant. She currently sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Armed Services Committee, Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Veterans’ Affairs, and Small Business Committee. She is also the Chair of the SASC Subcommittee on Readiness. Prior to serving in the Senate, she served in the U.S. House of Representatives, as lieutenant governor of Hawaii, and Hawaii state legislature.
In a press release Mayor Hirono said, “As I file for reelection, I’m honored to have the support of my colleagues in the Hawaii delegation and so many organizations representing workers and communities across Hawaii. Working together, we’ve delivered real results for our state, and we have more work to do. I look forward to our continued partnership as we work to lower costs, defend our freedoms, and make life better for families throughout Hawaii.
