Yesterday afternoon, Kona Community Hospital leaders guided Senate Majority Leader Dru Kanuha and Rep. Kirstin Kahaloa through the hospital and provided updates on its facility.
Both gained firsthand insight into improvements made in the Pharmacy Drug Compounding Facility and the upgrades to the hospital’s HVAC system.
The work is the direct result of $18.5 million that was appropriated last June to upgrade Kona Community Hospital’s pharmacy and capital improvement projects.
Once complete, these upgrades will enable hospital employees to continue providing a full range of services to West Hawaii.
In a statement Senator Kanuha said, “This hospital is for our community and if we don’t have the services and the ongoing repair and maintenance of this hospital, we can’t help our community.”
The pharmacy drug compounding facility is expected to open in late 2024
