At 5:00 AM HST (1500 UTC), Tropical Storm Calvin’s center was situated near latitude 17.8 North and longitude 156.8 West. The storm was moving westward at a speed of approximately 20 mph (31 km/h), and this westward motion is predicted to continue through Thursday.
Maximum sustained winds around the center of the storm were recorded at approximately 45 mph (75 km/h), with higher gusts. Over the next 48 hours, Calvin is expected to weaken, eventually transitioning into a post-tropical/remnant low.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles (205 km) from the center of the storm.
The estimated minimum central pressure was 1006 mb (29.71 inches).
Rain and wind impacts have been minimal thus far with most parts of East Hawaii receiving 3-5 inches of rain over the past 24 hours. Laupahoe and Pi’ihonua received the most rain with both areas recording over 7 inches of rain over the past 24 hours. Winds peaked overnight on Hawaii Island at 43 mph at Kohala Ranch and 42 mph in lower Puna.

Additionally, due to Tropical Storm Calvin, most State and County offices will be closed on Wednesday.
