The Department of Transportation announced a number of Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of July 3, 2023. Lane closure schedules may change without notice at any time. All projects are weather permitting. No road work will be performed on July 4, and the Highway 130 am contraflow will be closed in observance of Independence Day.
MAMALOHA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 7 and 9 between Old Volcano Road and Akaakai Street on Wednesday, July 5, through Friday July 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
PAHALA
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 57 and 58, in the vicinity of Ninole Loop Road on Wednesday, July 5, through Friday, July 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 92 and 93, near Ohia Malu Road on Wednesday, July 5, through Friday, July 7, from 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
KAILUA-KONA
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 113 and 114, between Basque’s Way and St. Paul’s Road on Wednesday, July 5, through Friday, July 7, from 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)

Single lane close on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction in the vicinity of Nahenahe Loop and Hooper Road on Monday, July 3. And then Wednesday, July 5, through Friday, July 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for Kuakini drainage improvements.
BAYFRONT HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19)

Complete closure of Bayfront Highway (Route 19) from Pauahi Street to Waianuenue Street on July 4, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. for “Fourth of July-Hilo Bay Blast 2023” fireworks show.
HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)

Single lane closure possible in either direction between mile markers 15 and 16 at Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) at Old Mamalahoa Highway and Leopolino Road, on Wednesday, July 5, through Friday, July 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
HONOKAA
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction at Kalopa Road on Monday, July 2. And then on Wednesday, July 5, through Friday, July 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. HECO will be replacing substandard utility poles and restringing overhead lines.
KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19)
