Hawaiʻi Gas union workers voted to ratify a new three-year contract, which marks the end of a strike that began on June 1.  Following unsuccessful negotiations, workers from Teamsters Local 996 went on strike over pay, medical costs and retirement benefits.

The new deal, which covers more than 200 teamsters, provides a 15% pay raise over the course of three years, a flat rate for workers’ medical insurance, which equals about 10% of their premium.

Hawaiʻi Gas posted the following message on their website:

“We are pleased that our labor negotiations have resulted in an end to the strike that began on June 1, 2023. While we are transitioning our union employees back to work, responding to requests for service and fulfilling deliveries may be delayed.”
