May 2023 Fentanyl Arrests and Recovery Stats

As part of its continuing community outreach about the dangers of fentanyl, the Hawai‘i County Police Department (HPD) provides monthly updates on the number of County fentanyl related arrests (possession/distribution) quantity as well as the amount fentanyl recovered for the preceding month.

During the month of May 2023, there were a total of 13 fentanyl related arrests including 10 East Hawai‘i and 3 in West Hawai‘i.

Last month HPD also recovered a total of 87.53 grams of illicit fentanyl, this includes 9.13 grams in East Hawai’i and 78.4 grams West Hawai’i, in addition to a total of  77 pills, (2 in East Hawai’i, and 75 on the west side of the island.)
