This weekend, Native Hawaiian singer-songwriter Kimié Miner, who is also the founder and CEO of Haku Collective, is hosting NĀ LEO (The Voices), an expanded community program from her MeleCraft Bootcamp, on Hawaiʻi Island.
Nā Leo offers youth weekend workshops that teach aspiring artists how to create music through an artistic and holistic health approach, while learning critical industry skills that empower self-awareness, healthy expression, executive thinking and resilience. The free program will also connect high school students and young adults, ages 14-22, with established creative professionals such as Kimié Miner, Anuhea, Paula Fuga, Kalani Peʻa, IZIK, Ark Woods and Kainani Kahaunaele, who will offer insight on how to song write with mental health awareness.
Attendees will be mentored in songwriting and performing exercises and will learn the skills involved in music creation, artistic collaborations, as well as an introduction to business brand development.
This weekend’s Hawaiʻi Island event will take place on Friday April 21 and 22. Audition Applications are available at 2023 Nā Leo Registration Form
Other statewide events will take place in Maui in September 2023 and Kauai’i in November 2023.
The series, is made possible in partnership with the State of Hawaii’s Creative Industries Division, DBEDT, Creative LAB Hawaii Partners (CLHP)
