Beginning on Tuesday, April 4, the Hilo Self-Help Center, a partnership between the Hawai‘i State Judiciary, the Hawai‘i State Bar Association (“HSBA”), the Hawai‘i County Bar Association (“HCBA”), and Legal Aid Society of Hawai‘i, is resuming its in-person service.
Services will be provided every Tuesday from 11:15am – 12:45pm at Hale Kaulike, the Hilo Courthouse (First Floor), located at 777 Kilauea Avenue. No appointments are necessary; however the public will be seen on a first come, first served basis.
Fridays will remain remotely operated via telephone from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The Hilo Self-Help Center can be reached at (808) 909-2845. After listening to the prerecorded message, individuals can leave a voicemail and an AmeriCorps Advocate will call back to finish the intake.
The Self-Help Center was originally created to help self-represented civil litigants obtain easier access to justice and legal services.
