As of 4am today, the National Weather Service’s high surf advisory continues for the Windward shores of Hawaiʻi Island from Upolu Point in North Kohala through Cape Kumukahi in Puna to South Point in Kaʻū through Saturday.
Expect strong breaking waves and currents making swimming dangerous.
A High Wind Advisory has been issued for the Northern section of the island to include North and South Kohala and sections of Hamakua. Sustained winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph can be expected.
Winds this strong have the capacity to knock down tree branches, blow away tents and make driving difficult.
The public will be updated on any changes.
