A wind advisory is in effect for Hawaiʻi Island from noon today through Friday, February 10.
Sustained winds of 25 to 35 MPH with localized gusts up to 50 MPH are expected while strong and gusty trade winds are forecast. Downslope winds could become accelerated. Due to the Wind Advisory, the following cautionary measures have been issued;Residents should secure outdoor items that could become wind-blown or airborne as winds this strong could forcefully open or close doors, damage hinges, and possibly cause injury.
Individuals should stay clear of downed utility poles and lines and report any downed poles or lines to authorities. Motorists, especially those in high profile vehicles, should drive with caution.
