This Saturday, February 4, the County of Hawai‘i’s Disaster Recovery Division and County Council District 4 will host its quarterly Revitalize Puna community activation from 10am to 2pm at Billy Kenoi Park Gym.
During the free event, County, State, and Federal leaders will be on hand to provide updates on eruption recovery and speak to challenges as well as opportunities for the Puna region. Attendees can also visit Resilience Resource Row which will host pop-ups from local nonprofits and volunteer opportunities to get involved with recovery efforts. The State Department of Land and Natural Resources will also be on hand to provide a status update on the restoration of Pohoiki Boat Ramp.
The event will also include live music and entertainment as well as food trucks. Free meal vouchers will be available to participants while supplies last.
“Our seventh activation is going to be our best ever,” said Ashley Kierkiewicz, District 4 Council Member in a press release. Kierkiewicz continued, “Not only will we have updates on the latest infrastructure projects, but we’re going to have so many opportunities for residents to connect with each other and government officials.”
