This week, wreckage from the Hawai‘i Life Flight air ambulance N13GZ that crashed while en route to pick up a Big Island passenger on December 15, 2022, was recovered.
The National Transportation Safety Board said they recovered the aircraft, all of the deceased flight crew, which included the pilot, flight paramedic and flight nurse, as well as the black box at an approximate depth of 6,420 feet.
The bodies are being transported to Oʻahu for identification by the Honolulu Medical Examiner, while the wreckage will be taken to a secure location in Hawai‘i for further examination.
The aircraft’s cockpit voice recorder and other electronic components will be transported to the National Transportation Safety Board laboratory in Washington.
