The Department of Transportation has announced a number of lane closures throughout Hawaiʻi Island during the week of December 5, 2022. Below is a detailed list of scheduled roadwork and maintenance:
VOLCANO ROAD/ MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)
MOUNTAIN VIEW
Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 13 and 16, Enos Road and vicinity of N. Oshiro Road, on Monday, Dec. 5, through Friday, Dec. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
MOUNTAIN VIEW
Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 17.8 and 22.5, Mauna Loa Drive and Kahaualea Road, on Monday, Dec. 5, through Friday, Dec. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for soil boring.
BETWEEN VOLCANO AND PAHALA
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 40 and 45 on Monday, Dec. 5, through Friday, Dec. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)
HONALO
Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile marker 113.9 and 114, vicinity of Honalo Road, on Monday, Dec. 5, through Friday, Dec. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the Kuakini Drainage Improvements.
BAYFRONT HIGHWAY/ HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)
HILO
Single lane closure on Bayfront Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 2 and 4, vicinity of Mooheau Park and Wainaku Street, on Monday, Dec. 5, through Friday, Dec. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for shoulder work.
HONOMU
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 13 and 15, vicinity , on Monday, Dec. 5, through Friday, Dec. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for tree cutting and mulching.
PAPAALOA
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 22 and 24, vicinity of Maulua Bay and Papaa Loa Ave, on Monday, Dec. 5, through Friday, Dec. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 20 and 24, vicinity of Makai Golf Club, Monday, Dec.5, through Friday, Dec. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD/HAWI ROAD (ROUTE 250)

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 9 and 13 on Monday, Dec. 5, through Friday, Dec. 9, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for road resurfacing.
KOHALA/HAWI (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)
Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road/Hawi Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 14 and 19.2, vicinity of Puuhue Road and Akoni Pule Highway, through Friday, Dec. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting, shoulder work, and pothole patching.
DKI HIGHWAY/ SADDLE ROAD (ROUTE 200)
