Hawai‘i Island police have arrested and charged 27-year-old Destanyie Calicdan of Hilo and 31-year-old Troy Canda-Raigumai of Kea‘au with multiple theft and identity theft charges stemming from a October 16 burglary at a residence on the 73-1000 block of Ahulani Street in Kailua-Kona.
Responding HPD officers determined that the suspects had stolen multiple items, including electronic items and credit cards. Kona patrol officers identified Calicdan and Canda-Raigumai after they were observed using the victim’s stolen credit cards to make unauthorized purchases from at least five businesses in the Kailua-Kona area.
On Monday, October 17, patrol officers located Canda-Raigumai and Calicdan on Ali’i Drive and subsequently arrested them and impounded their black Honda Civic coupe.
Detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigation Section continued the investigation and recovered the victim’s electronic items and several stolen credit cards.
After conferring with the County Prosecutors Office charged Calicdan and Canda-Raigumai with the offenses listed below. Both of their bails was set at $10,000.
Destanyie Calicdan:
- 4 counts of fraudulent use of a credit card
- 2 counts of second-degree theft
- 2 counts of third-degree theft
- 1 count unauthorized possession of confidential personal information
Tryo Canda-Raigumai:
- 3 counts of fraudulent use of a credit card
- 1 count of second-degree theft
- 1 count of third-degree theft
- 1 count of fourth-degree theft,
- 1 count of unauthorized possession of confidential personal information
- 1 count of habitual property crime
