The Hawaiʻi County Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Hawaiʻi State Department of Transportation (DOT) will begin repair projects to Stainback Highway from the Pana’ewa Zoo to North Kūlani Road beginning this week.
The repair projects were developed to accommodate population growth and remedy congestion.
DPW will first repair potholes beginning September 27, shoulder repairs will begin in late October and roadway repaving from Panaʻewa Zoo to North Kūlani is likely to begin in January 2023.
Weather permitting, road work will be performed from 8:30 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday. Traffic delays, potential one-lane closures are expected.
