Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of September 5

The Department of Transportation has announced a number of lane closures throughout Hawaiʻi Island during the week of September 5, 2022. There will be no daytime closures on Monday, September 5, in observance of Labor Day. The AM northbound Highway 130 Contraflow does not operate on State Holidays. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  Below is a detailed list of scheduled roadwork and maintenance:

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 67 and 69, vicinity of Ailani Orchards to South Point Road, on Tuesday, Sept. 6, through Friday, Sept. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for grass mowing/trimming.

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 108 and 110, Keei/Rabbit Hill Road and Captain Cook Village Road, on Tuesday, Sept. 6, through Friday, Sept. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for landscaping

 

HAWAIʻI BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

HONOMU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 11 and 13, vicinity of 28-1241 Old Mamalahoa Highway and Honomu Road, on Tuesday, Sept. 6, through Friday, Sept. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for landscaping.

HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 14.2 and 14.3, vicinity of Kolekole Stream, through Friday, Sept. 9, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., for bridge work. There is no scheduled work on Monday, Sept. 5.

HAKALAU (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Single lane closure over Nanue Bridge at mile marker 18.5 on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) for bridge repair. Details at https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/nanue-bridge-weight-restriction-will-be-lifted-at-noon-friday-sept-2/

HONOKAA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 45 and 46, vicinity of Kapuna Road, on Tuesday, Sept. 6, through Friday, Sept. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for tree trimming and mulching.

 

KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD/ PAHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130)

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Pahoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile marker 10 and 12, vicinity of Keonepoko Water Spigots and Pahoa Village Road, Tuesday, Sept. 6, through Friday, Sept. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for shoulder work and landscaping.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

WAIKOLOA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 9.7 and 12.2, vicinity of Waikoloa Road, Tuesday, Sept. 6, through Friday, Sept. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for resurfacing.

 

— KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) —

KOHALA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 9 and 13, vicinity of Ponoholu Ranch, Tuesday, Sept. 6, through Friday, Sept. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for shoulder work, landscaping, and vegetation cutting.
