Hawai‘i Island police arrested 24-year-old Isabella Gonzales of Kamuela for theft and terroristic threatening following an incident that occurred at a Pāhoa business yesterday morning,
Gonzales was observed shoplifting from a business on the 1500 block of Pāhoa Village Road and assaulted an employee when confronted about the theft. She then exited the business and brandished a firearm at store employees. The business then went into “lockdown” to ensure the safety of employees and customers. The firearm was not discharged, although Gonzales made threats towards store employees.
When Puna patrol responded to the scene they located the Gonzales several hundred yards away from the business, and arrested her for both robbery and terroristic threatening in the first degree The Area I Criminal Investigation Section is continuing this investigation.
