Aulani Freitas has been named Hawaiʻi Island Film Commissioner. The Hawaiʻi Island Film commission lies within the County’s Department of Research & Development.
Commissioner Freitas has nearly two decades of television and film industry experience including work on shows including American Idol and Magnum P.I. She has also worked within the State of Hawaiʻi Creative Industries Division.
In a press release Commissioner Freitas said, “We are a huge island and could accommodate a large commercial structure to house a future film studio and creatives to create better-paying positions on Hawaiʻi Island.”
Freitas’ appointment begins on June 16.
