37 year-old, Ryan Reis of Hilo, was indicted with offenses related to the sexual assault of a minor for incidents that occurred between August 1, 2017 and October 31, 2018.
As the Indictment alleges, Reis is charged with six counts, including five counts of Sexual Assault in the Third Degree and a single count of Continuous Sexual Assault of Minor Under the Age of Fourteen. The most serious offense, Continuous Sexual Assault of Minor Under the Age of Fourteen is a class A felony offense which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
At the time of his arrest, Reis was also arrested for an unrelated District Court warrant.
The investigation was handled by Detectives Gavin Kagimoto and Patrick Aurello and Officer Corey Kaneko, Area I Juvenile Aid Section, Hawai‘i Police Department.
The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Sylvia Wan.
The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
