Nā Kama Kai is one of five recipients of the second annual WSL PURE (the nonprofit partner of the World Surf League (WSL ) grant program.  The program awards organizations for their work in support of We Are One Ocean, WSL’s campaign to protect and conserve the global ocean.

Nā Kama Kai is a community nonprofit based in Wai‘anae that empowers keiki by connecting them to the kai and the ʻāina to instill a greater sense of aloha and kuleana for the natural environment and themselves. Their grant-funded project will teach ocean safety, conservation, and stewardship to youth (ages 2-17) across Oʻahu.

The WSL PURE grant will allow Nā Kama Kai to engage children on the importance of nurturing and preserving marine ecosystems and that it’s everyone’s kuleana to protect the ocean and the natural environment.

The WSL’s We Are One Ocean campaign continues to be front-and-center for WSL athletes and fans through a series of education and conservation initiatives, including event-based activations highlighting the great work of local grassroots organizations around the globe.
