The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Environmental Management announced the following work-related temporary traffic changes:

  • One-lane traffic on Ali‘i Drive near The Fish Hopper restaurant
  • Shoulder parking closure at Ka‘ahumanu Place.

Work is scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 21, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and is anticipated to be completed by Tuesday, April 26.

On Ka‘ahumanu Place, shoulder parking/loading will be partially closed in “Work Zone 1” to accommodate equipment for sewer line repairs. In addition to the parking/loading zone closure, the makai lane in the area shown below as “Work Zone 2” will intermittently be used for contraflow traffic. Contra-flow traffic should last approximately 15 minutes at a time. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic.

Motorists can expect delays when contra-flow is in place and should allow for extra travel time to get to their destinations.
