(AP) — Two Hawaiʻi men have died after their small airplane crashed in steep, mountainous terrain on the northwest side of Kauaʻi. A pilot and co-pilot were on board the Cessna 172, which crashed about 13 miles north of Kekaha on Sunday. Kauaʻi police identified the two as 76-year-old James Degnan of Princeville and 78-year-old David Parker of Kapaa. Fire officials recovered the bodies Monday morning. The National Transportation Safety Board says the flight was operated by the Civil Air Patrol as a mission training exercise. Kauaʻi police say the flight was conducting monthly tsunami warning practice runs.
